1. Who we are
EMU 24 Limited (“EMU24”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates this website and our trade counter. We are a company registered in England and Wales under company number 06739464, with our registered office at Spectrum House, 2b Suttons Lane, Hornchurch, Essex, RM12 6RJ. Our trading address is Unit 13, Easter Park, Ferry Lane South, Rainham, Essex, RM13 9BP.
We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. We process it in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. The data we collect
We sell to business customers, so most of the personal data we hold relates to people acting for a business: sole traders, partners, directors and employees of our customers and suppliers.
- Identity and contact data: name, job title, employer, email address, telephone number, and delivery and billing addresses.
- Account data: your website login details, order history and preferences.
- Trade credit data: information in a trade account application, such as company and director details, trade references, credit reference and anti-fraud checks, and any personal guarantee.
- Transaction and financial data: details of orders, invoices and payments. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card details.
- Communications: emails, calls and messages you send us, including contact form submissions.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit, collected through server logs and cookies.
We collect this data directly from you, and in some cases from third parties such as credit reference agencies, your colleagues or contractors working on the same project, and publicly available sources such as Companies House.
3. How we use your data
- To set up and manage your customer or trade account, including credit and anti-fraud checks.
- To process, deliver and invoice your orders, and to collect payment.
- To respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
- To run, secure and improve our website and services.
- To send you information about products, offers and services similar to those you have bought or enquired about, unless you opt out.
- To comply with our legal obligations, including tax and accounting records, and to prevent fraud and crime.
- To establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
4. Our lawful basis
- Contract: processing needed to supply goods and manage your account.
- Legal obligation: keeping accounting and tax records, and responding to lawful requests from public authorities.
- Legitimate interests: running our business, assessing credit risk, preventing fraud, securing our website and marketing to business contacts. We only rely on this where your interests and rights do not override ours.
- Consent: where required, for example for non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us.
5. Who we share your data with
We only share personal data where necessary, with:
- delivery partners and couriers who deliver your orders;
- payment service providers who process card payments;
- credit reference and fraud prevention agencies, when you apply for a trade account;
- IT, hosting, email and software providers who support our website and business systems;
- professional advisers such as accountants, auditors, insurers and lawyers;
- the police, HMRC, courts or other authorities where the law requires it; and
- a buyer or successor if all or part of our business is sold or reorganised.
Our service providers may only use your data on our instructions and must keep it secure. We do not sell personal data.
6. International transfers
We are based in the UK. If any of our service providers process personal data outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Customer, order and invoice records are normally kept for six years after the end of the financial year they relate to, to meet tax and accounting requirements. Marketing preferences are kept until you opt out. Website usage logs are kept for a shorter period, unless needed for security investigations.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, and limit access to those who need it for their work. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we have procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and the regulator where we are legally required to.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- be informed about how we use your data;
- access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to our processing in certain circumstances, and object to direct marketing at any time;
- data portability for data you have given us; and
- not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect you.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within one month. You can update many of your details yourself in your account.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
